YOUTH VOICES

daily learnings from young South Africans

How are we responding to the insights?

Young people don’t trust screening and testing to be safe

Young people appreciate being informed proactively about fake news and scams to watch out for

Reports on recoveries help young people stay hopeful

Young people struggle with accessing online resources, and alternative options or advice

They are mostly feeling depressed or angry

Young people are more engaged by stories than information, especially if its in their home language

They are keen for lockdown to end so they can get back to looking for work, and appreciate any support

Young people show an improved understanding of the importance of staying at home

They still lack access to data because it is too costly

They are highly engaged in the daily COVID-19 stats, espically in trying to understand recoveries which gives them hope

They appreciate the content but ask for content and resources that speak to them – in their language and their area
